DEFINITION : ANORGASMIA and FRGIDITY

Anorgasmia definition

Anorgasmia definition is the lack of sole orgasmic pleasure whereas desire is intact.

This lack of orgasm could have existed for ever, anorgasmia is then qualified as primary. If this orgasmic dysfunction has appeared after a knowing period of orgasms, it will be qualified as secondary. Anorgasmia can be total, that is, clitoral as well as vaginal or else it can be partial, that is, clitoral only or vaginal only.

A woman who complains of anorgasmia can be very excited during the sexual relation, or by masturbation, but without ever reach an orgasm.

Frigidity definition

Frigidity is not a term very well defines and, according to sex therapists, the frigidity definitions can be different. For some, frigidity is a total lack of desire and sexual stimulation, during a sexual relation, whatever the partner, as well as during masturbation. For others, frigidity is a combination between anaphrodisia (lack of desire) and a total absence of pleasure and sexual stimulation.

To us, the best frigidity definition will be the combination of a lack of desire and pleasure, during sexual relation, whatever the partner, as well as during masturbation.

Whatever the definition, it is obvious that a woman who suffers from frigidity suffers as well from anorgasmia (whereas a woman who suffers from anorgasmia is not necessarily suffering from frigidity).

Anaphrodisia definition

Anaphrodisia definition is the lack or the decreasing of sexual desire.

This lack can have always existed, anaphrodisia is then qualified as primary. It might have appeared after a knowing period of desire, in this case it is an anaphrodisia qualified as secondary.

A woman who complains of anaphrodisia does not suffer necessarily of frigidity or anorgasmia. It is only the sexual desire, which is missing. She does not have the spontaneous desire of sexual relation not even the desire of masturbation. During sexual relations, or by masturbation, this woman can take pleasure and have an orgasm.

We will see later that relearn to these women to take easily some pleasure and have orgasms is one of the treatment key of lack of desire.

COMMON CAUSES OF ANORGASMIA and FRIGIDITY

There are numerous causes, which are either organics (endocrinal) or psycho-behavioral.

Frigidity and anaphrodisia can be link to an endocrinal organic cause, but in general, the clinical background is very suggestive with other clinical signs, which appear before the sexual problem. Anorgasmia almost does not have an organic cause; its origin is essentially psycho-behavioral.

The main psycho-behavioral causes are the same for anorgasmia, frigidity and anaphrodisia such as:

An education, during the childhood, particularly depreciating about sexuality, with strong interdicts (banned of nudity, fond parental caresses, masturbation etc.).

Depreciation of her own image. A frigid woman does not like herself.

Guilt due to incestuous touching or pedophile during the childhood and more generally, all sexual violence whatever the age.

A first attempt of sexual intercourse particularly painful or psychologically traumatizing.

Regular painful and not satisfying sexual intercourses (in particular if the partner is suffering from a premature ejaculation or if he does not know how to please his partner).

A sexual partner who the woman does not put a lot of effort into the relationship.

An undoubted lassitude in the couple.

However, sometimes, no obvious cause is found to explain those problems.

It is important to note that a lack of desire at every sexual intercourse, during a long period is often responsible of a secondary anaphrodisia. A woman, who does not take pleasure during sexual relations, will lose progressively her desire. The relearn of a total and sensual pleasure and even more of a orgasmic pleasure, will give back to this woman the desire of sexual relation.

TREATMENT of ANORGASMIA and FRIGIDITY

Studies have shown a success rate of 65-85% when orgasmic dysfunctions such as anorgasmia, frigidity and anaphrodisia are treated by specialists in sex therapy. In primary anorgasmia, frigidity or anaphrodisia, treatment is usually successful in 75% to 90% of cases

The two main treatments are the psychotherapy (but many women does not want to get involve in a psychotherapy because of a lack of time and money) and behavioral therapies.

The psychotherapy take quite a long time, that is, several months or years, and its cost is quite expensive. The psychotherapy is particularly indicated for the following cases: primary anaphrodisia, anorgasmia or frigidity that is, which have always existed. (definition of primary anorgasmia, anaphrodisia or frigidity)

The behavioral therapy is a therapy of a shorter time than psychotherapy. The behavioural therapy is particularly indicated for secondary anaphrodisia, anorgasmia or frigidity that is, which have appeared after a sexual period quite satisfying. (definition of secondary anorgasmia, anaphrodisia or frigidity)

In general, the combination of psychotherapy and behavioural therapy is very interesting for every primary and sexual problem of psychological origin. Concerning the treatment of a secondary sexual problem, generally, a behavioural therapy, alone, is sufficient.

To conclude, you have to know that whatever your problem, primary or secondary anaphrodisia, anorgasmia or frigidity a behavioural therapy will help you to get rid of it.

The treatment (non-medical) of Dr Michel SERRE, our sex therapist, is of a behavioural type. It is based on the discovery or rediscovery of sensual and erotic pleasure with yourself and with your partner, and the discovery or rediscovery of orgasms. You will learn to perform some exercises of gradually increasing difficulties and writing with all the details and accuracies possible, to your own rhythm, by working on your body, first alone then, if it is possible, with the help of your partner.

In this way, step by step, you will rediscover sexual pleasure during sexual relations and to have an orgasm and finally you will get back the desire of sexual intercourses because pleasure generates desire.
